MIE … Meet The Industry Trends!

Aiming to bridge the gap between the academic track and the industrial track and to help senior students to pick a graduation project’s idea that meets the Egyptian market needs. The speakers in the event are MIE industrial partners that represent different enterprises and companies from different fields in the market. Each Speaker shared a set of topics that are recommended to be used in the graduation projects. The target audiences of the events were senior students willing to join MIE journey to extract the best of their skills and capabilities and to end their academic year with a real prototype as a graduation project. The event was held on Saturday 24th of October in Cairo University, Faculty of Engineering.
After  “Meet The Industry Trends” event , MIE registration is still left open till 25th of November. However project idea will be mandatory. Registered teams with valid documents and project idea will  be evaluated by MIE to select accepted teams. Industrial partner will have the opportunity to sponsor accepted teams with good ideas.
Among the main areas of interests of the participating partners were: Cloud Computing, Advanced Analytic,  Big Data,  Internet of Things, Wearables, Smart Cities, Industrial Automation, Radio Tools, Civil, & Embedded systems – Automotive.

The 2nd IEEE EMBS International Students Conference

Since 2013, EMBS Engineering in Medicine and Biomedical has organized a number of International Student Conferences (ISCs) all over the globe, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Egypt, Malaysia, and Chile.

Organized by a group of highly motivated biomedical engineering students, for students just like themselves, the ISCs offer an opportunity for students to meet like-minded students in their region, gather to discuss ideas, present their work, exchange views.

This year, the conference was held in Cairo University from 21-22nd October 2015. The conference aims to:

  1.     Provide undergraduate and postgraduate students with the opportunity to practice, first hand, the process of scientific research and publication.
  2.     Boost leadership skills in students involved in the organization of the conference.
  3.     The conference is intended to be a forum for students to meet each other and exchange experiences at the local, regional, as well as international levels.

Throughout 2-days event, the conference successfully:

  1.     Reviewed and helped the authors of the accepted papers to make sure that the papers are compliant with the standard IEEE paper format.
  2.     Formulated the Abstract Booklet, Which includes the abstract of all accepted papers, Committees, Program Tracks, Keynote Speech, Plenary Speakers, Invited Talks and Conference Workshops.
  3.     Formulated the Introduction Booklet, Which includes a brief bio and contact information for all participants in the ISC’15 conference.

A Collaboration Between IEEE Egypt Section & Techne Summit

IEEE Egypt section is pleased to announce the recent collaboration with Techne Summit. Techne Summit’15 was held under a festive atmosphere at Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Alexandria, Egypt from 24th – 25th of October 2015.

Techne Summit is a technology conference that gives leading Tech entrepreneurs a place to network & demonstrate how their companies are changing the way they think. The event was held under the auspices of Alexandria Governorate and brought together industry leaders and emerging tech voices to showcase innovations.

Techne summit created a platform for emerging start-ups and technology leaders from all over the globe to cooperate, connect and deliver their innovative businesses throughout the 2-days event.

Moreover, Dr. Ahmed Darwish delivered a session under the “Social, Technology and Strategy” in which he discussed the critical relation between our social life and its crucial dependence on the latest technologies we are reaching. He pointed out that such relation could be well utilized in an efficient way by setting a clear reliable strategic plan for utilizing the latest technological applications in a proper way. By the end of the session, Dr. Darwish invited all the audience to be a part of this technical society that can lead the country to be among the leading countries technologically worldwide.

Vodafone Graduate Program

As part of IEEE collaboration with Vodafone, IEEE Egypt Section announced that Vodafone Egypt is launching its elite graduate program – Discover, which is a highly distinguished fast track development program designed for future leading high potential fresh graduates.

The program’s vision is to grant talented fresh graduates challenging business exposure through customized job rotation, coaching and corporate networking, enabling them to reach their full potential and make a tangible difference to Vodafone and it’s mission is introducing Potential Vodafone Leaders that understand its evolving needs and transform the industry making it simpler, more dynamic and more effective.

An event was hosted in the Vodafone premises on October 29th in Nosseir Halls – Smart Village from 10:00 am till 3:00 pm
– Discover Graduate Program is dedicated for fresh graduates of the years 2014 and 2015.
– Graduates who have done Summer Internships
– Graduates who have done extracurricular activities

The targeted Universities  were Ain Shams and Cairo from the below majors

IEEEXtreeme 9.0 in co-operation with ITWorx

IEEEXtreme is a global challenge in which teams of IEEE Student members – advised and proctored by an IEEE member – compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of programming problems. This year, IEEEXtreme Egypt Section Ambassadors had a new idea. They made an event which is considered as organizing IEEEXtreme for all the egyptian teams in one place. They called this event: “LCW – Learn Compete Win” and made “Code = Power” as the slogan for this year. As a kind of collaboration, ITWORX has hosted LCW and provided competitors with needed meals and refreshments along the 24 hours of competition. ITWORX also guaranteed a very good internet connection with internet technical support during the 24 hours. In this edition, 34 egyptian teams registered in IEEEXtreme 9.0, 28 teams has participated and 9 teams has participated through LCW’15. From Egypt, 3 teams have been ranked among the first 100 teams around the world. Don’t forget to keep checking for IEEEXtreme 9.0 final results. It will be announced on November 2nd,2015.

Ericsson Innovation Awards .. Don’t miss the deadline!

As part of IEEE industry collaboration with Ericsson , IEEE Egypt Section introduced the Annual Ericsson Innovation Awards (EIA). Ericsson strongly believes that everyone has the capacity to come up with a transformational idea. This global competition will enable students to exercise their creative minds for the world to see.

The application’s deadline is November 30th 2015

The prize

–         First place team will win 25,000 EUROS

–         Second place team will win 15,000 EUROS

–         Runners up will receive 1,000 EUROS

–         ALL SEMI FINALISTS will be interviewed for an internship or position at Ericsson

–         Each team that registers must be between 2-4 individuals

–         Each and every discipline is welcome – be it business, arts, or technical/engineering/sciences

–         All level of studies are welcome – from freshmen to seniors

The grand finale (final 4 teams) will be hosted in Stockholm, Sweden.

The EIA winners and runners up will be selected by a jury that consists of both Ericsson and external members in the official awards ceremony
